Cold

Cold usually lasts for 3 to 7 days but it can make you feel spent for more than that. It is best to visit a doctor if the cold continues for 4 days without signs of recovery. Cold responds well to homeopathic medicines and since homeopathy strikes problems at their root, you can treat cold effectively with homeopathy. At Khushi Clinic, we first understand your allergies and the frequency of colds, before suggesting the treatment for you. In doing so, we strengthen your immune system and help you fight the virus effectively.

Have you had a bout of sneezing more often than you should recently? Is a running nose becoming irritating because you cannot concentrate on your work properly? Is a sore throat keeping you from enjoying your favorite ice-cream? Cold is one of the most common diseases. It can be a very annoying one too, because of the way it affects most of our senses. You may end up with watery eyes, stuffy nose and a scratchy throat. It often strikes certain people more often than others. This depends on your body's constitution and how strongly it can fight cold.

Signs and Symptoms

There are more than 200 different types of virus that are responsible for cold. One of the most common ones among it is rhinovirus and the corona virus. It is a communicable disease which means that cold is usually caught from someone who already has it.

You catch a cold when the virus responsible for the disease attaches itself to the lining of your nose and throat. When your body's immune system senses the presence of these viruses, it sends the white blood cells to attack the invaders. When the white blood cells are not able to overcome the attack, your immune system sends a new set of white blood cells to defend the body. This is why your nose and throat are inflamed when you catch a cold and it starts making a lot of mucous. The fact that your body is under attack and is fighting an invasion must help you understand why you feel tired and miserable when you catch a cold.

If you always believed that going out in the cold is the reason why you caught a cold, then it is time to set the record straight. It is not your exposure to cold weather but stress and allergies that are the main reason for catching a cold. Viruses that cause cold are more likely to thrive among people who are very tired or when they are under emotional stress. Those who have allergies of the nose and throat are also prone to common cold more than the others.

Diagnosis

Cold usually begins with a sore throat. Your throat may feel scratchy and it may irritate you. Gradually this will turn into a running nose which may be accompanied with sneezing. Like we explained earlier, cold can often lead to fatigue since your body is trying to defend itself from the virus. When not treated in a timely manner, it eventually turns into cough.
